Tough Economic Times Only Serve to Increase Agents Service to Others

MONMOUTH COUNTY, N.J., Dec. 10, 2008 Recognizing that the need for assistance is even greater this year than most, the sales associates of the Spring Lake and Wall Twp. offices of Gloria Nilson GMAC Real Estate were determined to step up their annual holiday food drive.

“This time of year there is such demand on food banks,” says Connie M. Wombough, a sales associate with the Wall Twp. office of Gloria Nilson GMAC Real Estate. “To help out, every time we go to the grocery store we buy a bit more.”

The sales associates of both offices donated a generous amount of non-perishable food to Mercy Center in Asbury Park before Thanksgiving. Now both offices are collecting for a second holiday delivery to Mercy Center. The Wall Twp. office will split their collection between Mercy Center and The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Anyone wishing to drop off donations of non-perishable food is invited to do so 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at either the Spring Lake or Wall Twp. office of Gloria Nilson GMAC Real Estate.

Veronica (Ronnie) Martis, a sales associate with Gloria Nilson GMAC Real Estate of Spring Lake, notes that Mercy Center is in need of the essentials, such as peanut butter, jelly, coffee, sugar, oatmeal, cereal, rice and powdered milk. The food collected for Mercy Center goes directly to their clients as part of the community organization’s mission to provide education, emergency and family services.

“Donations from individuals, groups, schools and businesses keep us going,” says Mercy Center Director of Donor and Public Relations Tiffany Williams. She adds that the center’s food pantry serves more than 5,000 people each year. Established in 1982, the pantry is maintained by Mercy Center staff and more than 50 volunteers.

The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties collects donated and surplus food in its warehouse and distributes it to charities serving families in need. Founded in 1984, the FoodBank also runs several programs that address the root causes of hunger.

“Our company and all of our agents are dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve. With the efforts of these offices and our customer donations, we can all come together to help our community members in need,” says Pat Bell, president and CEO of Gloria Nilson GMAC Real Estate.
