PASO ROBLES, CA USA – Wild Horse Winery Facility has been sold to Continental Wine Collection. The new proprietors, who also own Broken Earth and CV Brands, are poised to uphold and elevate its renowned legacy while E. & J. Gallo Winery retains ownership of the Wild Horse brand.
Located in the Templeton Gap District of Paso Robles AVA, Wild Horse Winery & Vineyards was established in 1981 by legendary winemaker Kenneth Volk, who shares:
“This facility was an incubator for some of the most successful wine makers of Paso Robles, California and beyond.”
As one of the original eight bonded wineries in Paso Robles, Wild Horse paved the way for a generation of vintners to explore and exalt the unique terroir of an untamed landscape. Inspired by the wild mustangs roaming nearby hills, the winery blazed a trail from inception, debuting its inaugural vintage in 1982. Ultimately, Wild Horse and their free-spirited Cabernet Sauvignon became an emblem of the region's rugged charm and pioneering ethos.
Vineyard Realtor Jenny Heinzen, who successfully managed the transaction, reflects:
“The Wild Horse success story is far-reaching. A great number of wine industry leaders got their start at the facility and continue to shape what's next.
In 2003, I was on the Mergers and Acquisitions team who sold Wild Horse Winery to Jim Beam Brands—it was my first winery transaction and I was hooked. Over 20 years later, it’s one of 51 wineries/vineyards I’ve been proud to represent.
It’s an honor to see this full circle and I’m thrilled for Continental Wine Collection’s plans!”
