A strong presence in Corona del Mar’s highly competitive marketplace and a commitment to conducting business in an environmentally friendly fashion are two characteristics that have set Surterre Properties® apart since its 2006 inception. Today, in helping to bring the Newport Green Home to fruition as a sponsor, the boutique real estate firm has fused those qualities, introducing to the California Riviera the next frontier in luxury living: sustainability at its finest and most stylish.
The Newport Green Home — a custom residence that’s currently under construction and located at 703 Heliotrope in the heart of the coveted CdM Village — began as a vision of its owners, who were introduced to the property by Surterre agent Merle Tabor Stern. With the help of Evan Little, Merle’s colleague and a noted expert when it comes to eco-conscious real estate, the project came to life. As the Outreach Coordinator for the home, Evan has helped bring together a team of experts: Jeff Jeanette, the architect, John Steed, the builder, Rachel Hulan, the interior designer, Greg Curd, the engineer, and Greg Kight, the certification consultant.
“Surterre is proud to sponsor this innovative project, which brings together so many elements that define our mission as an organization,” remarked Gary Legrand, Surterre’s president and CEO. “Teamwork has proved one of the most instrumental elements in realizing the vision of this highly sophisticated green residence — both the hard work of the design and building team, and the hard work put forth by Merle and Evan, who through this endeavor have aptly exemplified the value in working together toward standout service.”
Since the onset of the home’s customization in September 2011, the project’s progress has been documented at NewportGreenHome.com, which features informative updates on the entire “greening” process, from its efficiently erected framing, to its naked roof and solar power capabilities and more. Along with raising awareness on sustainability and providing a valuable resource for homeowners with like-minded eco-friendly aspirations, Newport Green Home’s entire team has made it their goal to get a Platinum LEED® certification for the home, which is officially registered as a project with LEED® for homes.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of this exciting project, as I’m passionate about environmentally friendly living and about sharing my knowledge and expertise on the subject,” Evan Little stated. “When it comes to customizing a luxury residence for sustainability, this property is setting a never-before-seen example for the Orange County market. I can’t wait to see the culmination of everyone’s hard work in a few months when the project is complete.”
A domination of coastal Orange County’s most sought-after real estate markets, environmentally conscious business practices and a unique company-wide commitment to working together as a team are only a handful of elements that distinguish Surterre from its competitors. Led by the most prominent names in local luxury real estate, the organization offers its agents and brokers an array of resources and amenities to ensure the best client experience imaginable, including an award-winning in-house marketing team and the latest advances in industry technology.
