HOUSTON, TEXAS - When you think of art crawls, going from art gallery to art gallery probably comes to mind. And, traditionally that’s how they’re done. However, recently John Daugherty, Realtors invited guests to their first ever experience an “In House” art crawl at one of their luxury listings on Rivercrest Drive.
The impeccably custom built, contemporary is completely empty, which made it the perfect clean pallet for an event showcasing some of Houston’s top local artists. The artists participating in the one night art crawl ranged from muralists and painters to handbag designers and jewelry designers.

Guests were invited at no charge to tour the house and as they walked from room to room they had the opportunity to experience different works of art. Artists included Taft McWhorter, Kelley Devine, Margaret Colvin, Caryn Landauer, Terry Leavitt Chavez and Presmer by Annsley Popov. 10% of the proceeds from art sold that evening benefited The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Attendees were encouraged to make a donation to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and put their name in for the drawing. Prizes included a $100 gift certificate to M Penner and a $100 gift certificate and cookbook from The Palm.
The Palm Restaurant, which recently underwent a huge million dollar remodel, brought their A-Team catering staff, including Assistant General Manager Suzanne Hiller. The menu featured signature Palm appetizers including beef sliders and crab cakes. The weather was perfect for everyone to stroll both inside and outside the house, while sipping wine from Plate & Bottle, a new wine establishment in the Rice Village.
BMW West, part of the Momentum, which has participated in previous special events with John Daugherty, Realtors provided complimentary valet parking for guests and displayed a few of their coolest new rides. The next JDR “In House” art crawl will be in the spring.
