Ann Chiasson, Broker/Owner of Sea to Sky Real Estate in Whistler, BC, Canada shares her experience working in the luxury real estate industry, and insight on what makes her company so successful. Ann serves on the Luxury Real Estate Board of Regents, and received the Significant Sales award at this years’ 18th Annual Luxury Real Estate Fall Conference.
How did you get your start in real estate? By accident, as I was originally told there were too many realtors in town – there were 6 – when someone moved away, there was an opening so I was allowed to join the 6!
What path has your career taken? I have been all over the map as I was in Whistler in the late 70’s so I was able to participate in the growth of the Village and many of the subdivisions. I became licensed in 1981 and an owner in 1985, and have also dabbled in development. I have focused on the luxury market and often have unique properties for sale like the Harbour House Hotel and Granby Peninsula.
Why is your company successful? We have great people and a family owned company so we talk to each other on a regular basis. We often have wine o’clock on Fridays!
What are your favorite parts of your job? I love introducing people to the Whistler lifestyle and making sure they get the right property so they stay here for a long time. We want them to become part of the fabric of our community.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I love to travel and catch up with friends and when I am home, spend time with the family and some of my volunteer ventures like the Whistler Film Festival and the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation.
