Fuller Sotheby’s International Realty (FSIR), a leader in Colorado luxury real estate, presented a check for $11,305 dollars to the American Red Cross (ARC) Friday, January 17 th to aid in the Colorado flood relief effort. The donations are a result of the firm’s third quarterly “Come Together” initiative, which involved the mobilization of every broker associate and support staff member uniting for one cause.
“Thank you to Fuller Sotheby’s for your support. You were one of the first to call and ask how you could help, and providing these monetary contributions is very generous,” said Sara Hazel, Director of Major Gifts, American Red Cross.
The American Red Cross mission is to alleviate human suffering in the face of disaster though the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors, and Fuller Sotheby’s was one such donor during the recent floods. Since September, more than 1,300 Red Crossers have helped to power a response that has included:
- Serving more than 204,000 meals and snacks in collaboration with local partners like The Salvation Army.
- Handing out more than 249,000 relief items including work gloves, masks, hand warmers, tarps, trash bags, duct tape, comfort kits, blankets, and storage containers.
- Providing 15,000 health and mental health services, opening 20 shelters providing more than 3,800 overnight stays.
- Helping nearly 3,000 people with emergency or recovery related needs through casework.
“The floods were approximately four months ago but to the Red Cross, we’re still responding,” says Hazel. “We started with the immediate recovery, we sheltered, provided basic human needs for people, and now we’re moving onto the other needs.”
Fuller Sotheby’s International Realty brokers Richard and Elaine Swomley helped spearhead the initiative in conjunction with Cherie Arnold, managing broker of the firm’s Boulder office located at 1050 Walnut Street. “We were happy to help orchestrate this momentous humanitarian effort,” said Scott Webber, president, Fuller Sotheby’s International Realty. “The massive floods that swept across Boulder County back in September really hit home as many of our brokers and their families were affected. We were determined to do whatever necessary to lift their spirits and make an impact on the community during this great time of need.”
