SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Last week at Zephyr’s weekly sales meeting, two agents, Jim Beitzel and Joan Loeffler, presented a fundraising call for Dance Mission, a local community organization located in San Francisco’s Inner Mission. After collectively pledging $1,000, the duo appealed to their fellow agents to generously contribute as well. To make the donations go further, Zephyr agreed to match funds dollar-for-dollar. As a result, through the contributions of the agents and Zephyr’s matching funds, Beitzel and Loeffler were able to present a check for $5,560 to Dance Mission.
Dance Mission, founded in 1984, has a history of providing youth with opportunities to explore themselves and the world through dance as an invaluable alternative for low-income and multicultural participants. Dance Mission Theater is an artist-driven community facility dedicated to inclusiveness, fairness and justice. It serves a diverse group of Bay Area artists, audiences and students.
“For many of these kids, Dance Mission is a family they might not otherwise have,” stated Krissy Keefer, Artistic Director. “It's a valuable alternative to what takes place on the streets.”
“When Joan and I visited their rehearsal space and toured classes, it was incredible to see the joy and pride these kids have because of their classes. Each class had large groups of kids being led by dedicated choreographers. They were vibrant and the kids were having a blast working together,” commented Beitzel. “Our Zephyr gift touched them deeply.”
Beitzel is a recent recipient of Zephyr’s “Golden Z” award in recognition of his support of various local charitable endeavors, particularly AIDSLifecycle, which promotes awareness and raises funds for those with HIV and AIDS. Over the years, he has raised more than $50,000 for that organization. Loeffler has been a Top Producer for Zephyr since 2000 and has been a REALTOR since 1995. She is active in many local charitable organizations, including Dance Mission, and enjoys golf, swimming, yoga and gardening.
