The Intero Foundation Grants $65,000 to Silicon Valley Organizations

1397497945CUPERTINO, CA – On March 20th, the Intero Foundation issued their first round of grants of the year directed towards the California communities of Gilroy, Hollister, Morgan Hill, and San Jose’s Silver Creek area. In 2002, the leaders of Intero Real Estate Services, Inc. founded the Intero Foundation to be a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children in the communities local to where Intero conducts business.

Over a decade later, the Foundation empowers a diversity of organizations that positively impact the education and personal development of children. Through Intero’s agents, employees and fundraising events, the Foundation has generated over $3 million with an endowment of more than $600,000.

In order to sustain its commitment to giving back to the community, each quarter, the Intero Foundation presents grants to non-profits that have been approved by the Foundation Committee. This first quarter round of grants were brought to the foundation by Intero’s offices located in Morgan Hill, Hollister, Gilroy, and San Jose (Silver Creek). A total of $65,000 split amongst the following organizations:

1. Animal Assisted Happiness – Working to enrich the lives of children experiencing health and/or family challenges through visits with animals. The Intero Gilroy office presented $5,000 to fund a Program Manager who handle these visits at schools for children with special needs, and hospital settings as well as group visits to AAH’s farm in Gilroy.

2. Rebekah Children Services – Dedicated to promoting social, emotional, and physical well being of children and families. The Intero Gilroy office presented $5,000 for their RCS Teen Parenting Program which is designed to teach teen mothers and fathers positive parenting strategies.

3. Girl Inc. of the Central Coast – Delivers an array of programs focused on leadership and self-empowerment for girls ages 9-18. The Intero Hollister office presented $5,000 to help fund their new leadership mentoring program that works with high-risk teen women.

4. Chamberlains Children Center – Empowers at-risk children in a home-like environment to heal from past trauma, discover their strengths, and develop the skills they need to achieve life-long success. The Intero Hollister office presented $5,000 for the purchase of a set of iPads for their school program which serves foster youth with severe emotional and/or developmental problems.

5. CASA of San Benito – Trains and supports community volunteers who advocate for abused or neglected children placed in foster care by upholding the children’s rights while pursuing a safe and permanent home. The Intero Hollister office presented $7,500 to go towards training volunteers who will become advocates for foster children in San Benito County.

6. Freedom House – Working to bring hope, restoration, and a new life to survivors of human-trafficking by providing safe housing and long-term aftercare. The Intero Morgan Hill office presented $15,000 to support their Santa Clara County shelter, The Nest, which is dedicated to providing shelter, food, clothing, and professional counseling and other services to girls (ages 12-17) who are victims of human trafficking.

7. Discovery Counseling Center – Provides affordable, professional counseling to those without insurance and disadvantaged families throughout South Santa Clara County. The Intero Morgan Hill office presented $5,000 to expand their existing school counseling program to the two middle schools in Morgan Hill School District.

8. Boys and Girls Club – Works to inspire and empower young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring adults. The Intero Morgan Hill office presented $5,000 to support their summer program for underserved youth at El Toro Youth Center.

9. Lighthouse of Hope – Assist people using their natural abilities to achieve their goals and to facilitate emotional and spiritual development. The Intero Silver Creek office presented $7,500 to support their after school counseling program for at risk high school student.

10. Next Door Solutions – Promotes safety for battered women and their children through emergency shelter. The Intero Silver Creek office presented $5,000 to be used to operate their shelter and provide activities for the kids including art, literacy programs and nutrition activities.
