Description
Terry Barbery says, "I love what I do, I love the people I meet and help, I feel blessed to live and work in one of the most beautiful places on earth." Barbery credits his real estate success to being resourceful and hardworking at a young age.
"Being responsible and prompt, do what you say you will do, treat people the way you want to be treated and answer your phone when it rings is my business model!"
It's the "Service after the Sale" where Terry's value exceeds expectations, I stay in close contact with my clients after the close of escrow arranging meetings with interior designers, sub-contractors, handymen, etc. I have an array of vendors I work with and feel comfortable with, they are responsible and professional, people that I trust and work on my own home.
Entering the business world at age 18, he started a heavy equipment rental service, working with grading and paving/earth moving companies in the San Francisco Bay Area on large construction sites. His company grew to a small fleet of rental trucks over a 20-year period and had amazing success in the construction boom of the 1980's and 90's.
This afforded Terry the opportunity to make investments in real estate and other ventures/partnerships. He purchased his first property at age 21, a single family residence that he never moved into, but used as a rental. Terry continued to purchase property in the coming years for investment purposes until finally purchasing a home to occupy. At one point Terry had 22 rental units that he owned and managed, learning everything from cap-rates, return on investment, to repairs, remodeling, building codes, etc.
At the young age of 22, Terry's fascination of airplanes led to him acquiring his private pilot license, he's been involved in a couple of partnerships with a Piper Cherokee and a Beechcraft Bonanza. When planning his move to Lake Tahoe in 1998, Terry sold his interest in the Bonanza and has flown rental planes and an array of client's planes such as a Cirrus SR22 to a Beechcraft Premier I Business Jet. He maintains his pilot's license to this day.
Terry also enjoys motorcycles, "Going to Sturgis, South Dakota in 1990 for the 50th anniversary motorcycle rally was an amazing experience" the Black Hills of SD make for great motorcycle riding!
When Terry decided to move to Incline Village, Nevada in 1999 he sold a few of his rental properties including his personal residence himself without using a Realtor. "It was then I realized I belong in the real estate business." He obtained his Nevada Real Estate Salesman's license and property managers permit shortly after which finally allowed him to do what he knows and enjoys, Terry says, "The Real Estate business fits me like a glove, I love meeting new people, helping them realize their dream of home ownership and living in Lake Tahoe". Offering my experience of location/proximity buying, investment real estate, knowledge of systems-building codes and property management skills is something that comes naturally, and I enjoy doing. I look forward to helping you with your real estate endeavors and lifestyle change, don't just live...thrive!
