Eddy is a pleasure to work with. My wife and I moved from Las Vegas to St. George, Utah, in 2021 and bought a house with Eddy Ortiz of Sothebys as our agent. We are not the easiest people to find a house for under the best of circumstances, but what made this purchase more complex was the fact that we had to simultaneously sell our house in Las Vegas and get a new loan. In this process, Eddy was incredibly patient, found many homes for us despite an extremely competitive real estate market and worked with us tirelessly in every way to make this possible. He was knowledgeable, honest and upfront, attuned to customer wishes and style, and again very patient.
Finding the perfect property for us was not easy, but he finally found the home we were looking for and helped us buy it. Eddy Ortiz was our agent for our home sale. He works with Sotheby's organization. For several years we viewed the Sotheby's listings in the WSJ and were impressed with their professionalism, vast connections, and thoughtful staging. We found the Sotheby's office in Saint George Utah and connected with him. Eddy more than lived up to the high standards we expected from a Sotheby's agent.

Our 20-acre, 3BD house was unique (or as one buying agent put it "quirky"). It was 3 miles off-road from a tiny Utah town. One chief attraction was the 360-degree views of Utah Color Country, 5 miles as the crow flies from Zion National Park. As such, it was off the electrical grid and powered primarily by solar panels, and got water from a well.

Eddy and his Sotheby's connections brought a good number of prospective buyers to view the house. Some buyer agents were not as experienced or knowledgeable as Eddy. In one case when a buyer made an offer, Eddy had to educate the buyer's agent as to how to proceed, without seeming to shame them. He had to help them do their job without appearing to do so.

Once the house was under contract, a number of easement issues arose, primarily due to the shoddy work of surveyors and title companies from 20-30 years ago. Eddy worked closely and proactively with our title company to resolve issues encountered by the buyer's title company. Not easy or fun stuff. Luckily, Eddy's knowledge and experience helped guide our title company and the buyer's company to a successful resolution. His negotiating skills were especially helpful for this. While nerve-wracking, the sale was successfully completed and we got our price. Thanks to Eddy Ortiz.

One point about cost: the Sotheby's contract cost a percent more for the sell side than might be typical, and a couple above the discount brokers. If we had a typical agent or a discount one, I'm confident we would still own the house. Eddy Ortiz and the Sotheby's team was worth the extra cost.

We have been in the building business for over 35 years and have worked with numerous real estate agents. Eddy Ortiz is the very best we have worked with. Eddy was polite and professional at all times. He never pushed us to make quick decision and never offered his advice unless we asked. He continued to show us the property until we were completely satisfied with our decision to purchase. Prior to closing we shipped a couple items too early but Eddy went to the property and placed them inside the house. At the closing he put us at ease with his continued support. The day we moved in he met us at the property and gave us an amazing welcome basket. After we moved in, and on a weekend, Eddy helped us fix a refrigerator problem.
