Sam Aplanalp

Sam Aplanalp is a seasoned real estate professional serving Summit County, Utah and the surrounding areas; his first-hand local’s knowledge, connections and personal history in the area set him apart from other agents. Born and raised in the small town of Oakley, Sam is a true native of the Beehive State. Growing up in the verdant fields and farmland of the Kamas Valley, Sam was fortunate to have a quintessential childhood playing with friends, fishing and riding horses in the mountains outside his town. His father taught agriculture at the local high school and was a part-time farrier, introducing Sam early on in life to value hard work and determination. Sam graduated from South Summit High School before attending Utah State University as a Political Science major.

Prior to entering the world of real estate, Sam worked in a handful of jobs within the ski industry, sales and as a mortgage officer. He lived in California for three years before feeling the pull of family, returning home to Utah. His mother was a successful REALTOR® and owner of a small brokerage in Kamas, Utah. Inspired by her success and leadership, Sam obtained his real estate license and joined the family business in 2005. He was made a partner in 2009, and spent the next twelve years building his business, growing his client base and honing his real estate expertise.

With 42 years of personal experience living in and serving eastern Summit County, Sam excelled in his real estate career. He found that he loved working in rural areas and would ultimately end up specializing in the sale of mountain homes and cabins, riverfront properties and farm/ranch land. Although proud of his success at a smaller, family-run company, in late 2021 Sam felt the need to partner with a larger brokerage in order to level up his real estate offerings. Drawn to the leadership and award-winning, in-house services available at Summit Sotheby’s International Realty, Sam made the decision to join their team of real estate professionals. Known for their reputation of offering a luxury experience for every property regardless of size, location or price point of home, Summit Sotheby’s International Realty is Utah’s only brokerage with its own in-house advertising agency and full-time support teams specializing in transaction management, marketing, accounting and professional photography and videography.

Sam is passionate about service, and strives to run his business with integrity, honesty and loyalty to his clients, always acting in their best interests. Sam believes in open communication between his clients and fellow real estate professionals. In 2015 he was recognised as REALTOR® of the Year from the Park City Board of REALTORS®. He has chaired and currently serves on three political committees within the real estate community and serves on the South Summit Education Foundation as well as the Oakley Rodeo Committee. He speaks Spanish and follows the life motto of ‘Live where you play.” In the upcoming years Sam is excited to continue building his business with the local and international support of the global Sotheby’s brand. No matter the area or real estate need, Sam is always ready to assist his clients with his friendly professionalism and true local expertise.

When he’s not working in real estate, the focal point of Sam’s life revolves around his wife, Tiana and their son, Charlie. They love the outdoors, spending much of their free time fishing, hunting, boating and exploring Utah’s mountains by foot, ATV and horseback. In the colder winter months, they often head to Southern Utah and St. George in search of warmer weather, discovering new ways to enjoy Utah’s spectacular year-round outdoor recreation together as a family.
