COLD SPRING HARBOR, NY - Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, one of the nation’s leading realtors, has long supported its neighbor, the world-renowned Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). Recently, CSHL held its twentieth annual Women’s Partnership for Science lecture and luncheon at its Banbury Conference Center. The event, attended by a team of supporters from multiple Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty offices, raised more than $250,000 to support the important research of women scientists at the Laboratory, many of whose studies focus on women’s health issues. The featured speaker, CSHL Assistant Professor Jessica Tollkuhn, spoke about estrogen’s roles in brain development, mental health, and disease.
Since 2002, CSHL’s annual Women’s Partnership for Science lectures and luncheons have promoted and supported women as students, in post-doctoral work and as professors teaching and performing cutting edge biomedical research at the Laboratory.
This year’s luncheon honored Lori Bahnik, a former director of the CSHL Association board whose family foundation has provided significant support to the renovation of the Demerec building, which has been home to four Nobel laureates, including Barbara McClintock.
