WESTON, FL – Luxury real estate agents, Michelle Farber Ross and Lisa Cordero of Ross-Cordero Realty Group-Waterfront Properties & Club Communities, and NFL alum Terry Kirby will co-host a private concert as part of The Storyville Live Freedom Tour. The concert takes place on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 7:30 PM at the Windmill Ranch Estates Mega-mansion, and will feature guitarist/singer-songwriter Willy Porter.
The 7.0 earthquake that hit Haiti earlier this year has reportedly left tens of thousands of children orphaned and particularly vulnerable to the global crime of human trafficking. So when a concert producer from Storyville Live reached out to Ross and Cordero to host a concert to benefit freedom, the children of Haiti were fresh on their minds and they accepted the unique invitation.
In considering a co-host for the event, Ross and Cordero knew that NFL alum Terry Kirby would be particularly interested. Several of the students who attend his non-profit Charter School, Touchdowns4Life, are Haitian and have family still residing in the afflicted area.
“Through my work with the charter school, I always try to give back to today’s youth,” says Kirby. “This is a great opportunity to gain awareness for these practices of human trafficking and slavery, and another way to help those kids who really need a voice.”
The event will take place in one of the largest homes ever built in Broward County, the Windmill Ranch Estates Mega-mansion, owned by Richard Nilsen, co-founder of Mattress Giant. The 34,565 sq. foot home features incredible amenities like a movie theater and safe-room, as well as a 6,000 sq. foot great room overlooking the lagoon pool and lake.
“The choice for the location was simple,” says Ross. “This home is perfect for creating a memorable evening for a great cause!”
“We are so thankful to Richard for offering to showcase his estate in such a positive, meaningful way,” says Cordero. “Through this event and future events like it, we hope to shine the light on this inhumane worldwide epidemic and to give a voice to those who are suffering.”
Storyville Live concerts are highly experiential, exquisite events produced by Storyville Coffee Company. By sharing their deeply rooted passions for coffee, music and justice through the nationwide Freedom Tour, Storyville is able to raise significant awareness and resources for International Justice Mission (IJM) and its global fight against slavery and human trafficking.
“The only way we are going to end slavery is if justice advocates are in action, not spending 50% of their time fundraising,” says Cordero. “By hosting this event and through the generosity of our guests, we’ll help change the face of IJM’s fund-raising forever and that makes us feel really good about participating.”
