SHELTON, CT--In December 2010, William Raveis Real Estate revealed the success of its annual company-wide endeavor to raise funds to fight breast cancer. Sales associates and staff gathered in Shelton as Bill Raveis, Chairman and CEO, drew names of winners who purchased raffle tickets for the William Raveis Breast Cancer Research Fund.
Winners were selected from various areas of the northeast, including CT, MA and NY. Thanks to their contributions in the from of raffle ticket purchases, they won from a list of enviable prizes, including a 50” plasma television, Tourneau watch, a total of $3,800 in giftcards, an Amazon Kindle and diamond earrings, to name a few. William Raveis Real Estate donated 100% of raffle prizes.
“This drawing is a compilation of the efforts of William Raveis associates, staff and members of the community, who showed their commitment to helping in the fight against breast cancer,” said Mr. Raveis. “Their support is the reason we have this event every year.”
Over the past 3 months, sales associates and staff all over the northeast were seen selling raffle tickets for the William Raveis Breast Cancer Research Fund at grocery stores, carnivals, sporting events, shopping centers and in front of their offices. The monies raised directly support the William Raveis American Cancer Society Patient (ACS) Navigator Program at The University of Connecticut Health Center and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. The ACS Patient Navigator Program is a unique initiative that relies on trained professionals, “navigators,” to help newly diagnosed breast cancer patients cope with the physical, emotional and financial stress of the disease.
“Thanks to the hard-work of our company and surrounding communities, we raised close to $150,000 over the past 3 months, and $1.5 million over the course of 6 short years,” stated Mr. Raveis. “Our fund has always supported research and education, but this is something that is helping people who have cancer now. The big picture is vital, but so is making sure that we assist individual patients and their families through our philanthropy. The collective dedication of our sales associates, employees, vendors and clients has been nothing short of outstanding as we witness such positive outcomes to our fundraising efforts.”
Representatives of the ACS Patient Navigator Program in CT and MA attended the drawing. Dr. Carolyn D. Runowicz, Director of the Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center, Pamela Nixon, Patient Navigator at the University of Connecticut Health Center and Nancy Baccaro, nurse practitioner at the Health Center, spoke on behalf of the success of the ACS Patient Navigator Program at the University of Connecticut. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Patient Navigator Program was represented by Christopher Thomas, Senior Vice President of Leadership Gifts of the American Cancer Society and Ana Marin, Patient Navigator at the Medical Center.
