New York, NY, April 16, 2012: Women in Relocation, a New York City-based national organization of relocation professionals, held their Annual Spring Event on Tuesday, April 10 at the Brown Harris Stevens flagship office on Park Avenue in New York City. Women in Relocation provides a forum for real estate/relocation professionals to network, strategize and develop public awareness campaigns to support individuals and small communities in need of housing assistance. The Spring Event is held with the sole purpose of deciding which group they will assist. After much discussion and scrutiny of all candidates, the group decided to support The Bridge Fund of Westchester and New York again this year. For the first time, the group is additionally pledging support to Shelter our Sisters. “These two organizations, though very different, epitomize our commitment to help provide solutions in local communities and as a result our vote was unanimous,” said Silvana Malpelli, the group’s founder.
Meghan Barry, a member and President of Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate, said, “I enjoy being able to collaborate with my industry colleagues to raise money for organizations that support housing needs. Being a member of Women in Relocation has been a rewarding experience, and I always look forward to being a part of the good that we do.”
The Bridge Fund of Westchester and New York prevents homelessness for vulnerable, working poor individuals and families who are threatened with the loss of their housing, but do not qualify for emergency government assistance because they have some income. Lisa Buck, Director of The Bridge Fund said, “We are so grateful once again for the generous support of Women in Relocation. Our clients are often one of the first groups to be affected by a recession and ongoing support means a great deal and the assistance we provide is often the last resort for our working clients facing homelessness.”
Shelter our Sisters, assists women and children who are victims of abuse and provides emergency and transitional housing as well as emotional support and a diversified continuum of services to provide awareness to community members about domestic violence.
Women in Relocation will hold a Fall Event in September, which will also serve as an accessory fundraiser for Dress for Success, who have aligned themselves with the group since its inception. The year will culminate with the Annual Holiday Luncheon and Silent Auction where all proceeds and donations will be given to both organizations.
