SEATTLE – (June 13, 2012) – We are honored to announce that the Fall 2012 Luxury Real Estate Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is Patricia Petersen, President and CEO of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty.
This prestigious award is given twice annually to the Luxury Real Estate member who has set an example for the real estate industry, displayed excellence throughout their career and is truly a legend.
Under Patricia Petersen’s leadership of more than two decades, Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty (DGSIR) has grown significantly and continues to thrive through an era of tremendous change. Today, DGSIR is a $1.6 billion dollar plus organization with 21 sales offices and more than 600 sales associates. The organization consistently leads the nation in achieving one of the highest average sales prices in the country.
Founded in 1922, DGSIR is headquartered in Cold Spring Harbor, New York, and its sales offices span the North Shore of Long Island. Services include a Relocation Center, a Land and New Homes Division, Commercial and Rental Departments, as well as affiliations with a full service title company, Ambassador Abstract, and with Wells Fargo Mortgage. As the exclusive affiliate of Sotheby’s International Realty for Long Island’s North Shore, DGSIR has won the prestigious Sotheby’s "Leading Worldwide Network Affiliate Award" many times and is widely recognized as a major force in the intensely competitive New York market.
Pat’s early and continuing success in the industry is due in large part to her ability to anticipate, understand and meet client needs.
Following a successful career with a major New York public relations firm, Pat joined Daniel Gale in 1974 as a sales associate. At that time Daniel Gale had two offices. Almost immediately Pat became one of the top-producing agents. She went on to manage Daniel Gale’s Cold Spring Harbor office and was appointed Relocation Director and General Manager of the organization in 1983. She was named Vice President and General Manager in 1985 and President and CEO in 1991.
In this leadership role, Pat has continued to anticipate and respond to both the fluctuations of the market and the rapid upheaval and continuing evolution of traditional real estate marketing strategies, initiating new and innovative programs, while cultivating and adapting the best of the time-honored traditions. DGSIR’s ongoing training programs for managers and sales professionals are recognized as among the best in the industry. Extensive social media and technology training include the utilization of iPads for marketing applications and other innovative uses. Pat also introduced the highly regarded and results-driven business development/coaching program headed by a team of experienced, successful agents who provide extensive mentoring of new and experienced agents within Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty.
A frequent lecturer and national spokesperson for the industry, Pat serves on the advisory boards of national and international professional organizations including the Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliate network. In 2008 Pat was named to Luxury Real Estate’s prestigious Billionaires Club. She is a member of F.I.A.B.C.I.; Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate Board of Regents; Women’s Real Estate Council; the Long Island Board of Realtors; and the National Association of Realtors.
The business community at large as well as the real estate industry has turned to Pat Petersen as both an inspiration and expert source. Pat recently concluded an interview with Realtor magazine for its Standout feature, scheduled for publication in fall 2012 and was the featured cover story of LORE magazine. Long Island Business News named Pat Petersen to its “Top 50 Women on Long Island” list for three consecutive years, earning her inclusion in that publication’s Hall of Fame. Enterprising Women, a magazine for women business owners chose Pat to exemplify the country’s top women-owned real estate brokerages and profiled her for its “Billion Dollar Brokers” cover story. Distinction Magazine, a regional Long Island monthly, named Pat a “Woman of Distinction.”
Active in her community, Pat serves on the executive committee and advisory board of the DNA Learning Center, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory; and is on the Board of Directors for Huntington Hospital. Through Pat’s leadership, Daniel Gale Sotheby’s sales associates also contribute to Long Island’s cultural and humanitarian needs, both financially and with their time.
DGSIR’s marketing programs have been widely acknowledged for excellence. The Long Island Association and the Chamber of Commerce Regional Partnership named DGSIR Real Estate MVP and Business of the Year respectively. DGSIR is a member of Real Trends prestigious Billionaires Club and has been ranked Best Real Estate Company for the past two years by Long Island Press.
