CUPERTINO, CA – The Intero Foundation, started in 2002 by the leaders of Intero Real Estate Services, Inc. with the goal of supporting children in the communities local to where they conduct business, has caught the holiday spirit participating in a various giving opportunities.
Throughout the year, Intero makes an effort to give back to the community by giving quarterly grants to organizations that support kids in the community. In fact, since its inception, the Foundation has collected over $2.8 million through agent/employee contributions and fundraising events. “Intero’s Value #4 is Commitment and by that we mean being committed to the community. As Realtors we earn our living by serving our community so it was fundamental when we started Intero to figure out a way that we could give back to the community and we do that through The Intero Foundation which helps children in need,” says Gino Blefari, President and CEO of Intero Real Estate Services, Inc.
In the past, the organization has made its final round of grants for the year in October. This year, though, they made the decision to give out three additional grants for the holidays totaling $11,280. This donation was split amongst the following organizations:
- Adopt An Angel – Provides gifts to children in group homes, shelters, foster homes, and low-income households. The Intero Los Gatos office presented $6,000 for holiday gifts.
- SJB Child Development – Provides educational child development services for children 0-12 years of age to strengthen and support families throughout Santa Clara County. A grant of $1,780, presented by the Intero Los Altos office, will go towards holiday gifts for 89 children enrolled in their program.
- Boys & Girls Club of Silicon Valley – Offer after school and summer enrichment programs to insure success is within reach of every young person who walks through their doors. Intero Cupertino will present $3,500 to purchase non-gang colored clothing for 50 club members who attend George Mayne Elementary School.
In addition to these generous monetary donations, Intero agents, employees, friends and family have been given the opportunity to provide direct contributions through participation in other holiday giving activities including a bike build this Saturday and in-office collections.
The annual Big Bike Build on Saturday, December 7th directly supports Turning Wheels For Kids, an organization the Intero Foundation supported with a grant of $10,000 earlier this year. The event brings people together from all over the San Francisco Bay Area to build bikes to be given to underprivileged kids during the holidays.
Within their offices, Intero is encouraging agents, employees and clients to bring in items for two large holiday collections as well. The first drive is for winter coats through One Warm Coat. Last year this drive brought in over 1,700 coats, three 55 gallon bags of miscellaneous clothing and two 55 gallon bags of new gloves, scarfs and caps. The second is a Holiday Toy Drive to support the St. Anthony’s Padua Dining Room.
This holiday generosity is only a glimpse into the types of contributions The Intero Foundation is capable of. With the support of a foundation committee, the organization has been known to fundraise through everything from cookbook sales, to car shows to food truck meet ups. Giving back is definitely on their mind 365 days a year.
The Intero Foundation is always seeking to expand the culture of giving. To apply for a grant for your non-profit organization, follow the grant application guidelines here.
