LONDON, UK - Peter Wetherell, Chief Executive of leading Mayfair estate agency Wetherell, has been made an Eminent Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), as a reflection of outstanding individual achievement, success and expertise within the surveying profession.
The Fellowship was awarded to Peter Wetherell at a ceremony by Michael Newey FRICS, President of the RICS, at the Institute’s headquarters at 12 Great George Street overlooking Parliament Square. “The RICS is a Royal Institution that upholds the highest standards in our profession and I am proud to be part of it and all that it stands for” said Peter Wetherell FRICS.
The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), founded in 1868 and given Royal charter in 1946, is the institution that represents the profession and regulates Chartered Surveyors in the UK and 146 other countries worldwide. With over 160,000 members, the RICS provides education and training standards for the profession and protects consumers with strict codes or practice, as well as advising governments and business on activity within the surveying, land and property development and management sectors.
The RICS highlight that a Fellowship is the highest professional qualification awarded by the Institute, with only 20% of all RICS members ever attaining and holding FRICS designation at any given time.
To be eligible to apply for a Fellowship, a qualified surveyor needs to have been an RICS member for a minimum of five years. They then either need to apply for a Fellowship, which entails an impressive host of qualification criteria, or it is awarded by the President and board members of the RICS in recognition of outstanding achievement within the profession.
Peter Wetherell was awarded a Fellowship in recognition of his longstanding work as a surveyor advising clients such as Grosvenor, Land Securities, British Land and Motcomb Estates, and in recognition of his outstanding expertise within the Mayfair and St James’s marketplaces, where he has worked his entire career.
Established in 1982, Wetherell operates in Mayfair, St James’s and the surrounding West End district. The recognized market leader in Mayfair estate agency, Wetherell advises on over £1 billion worth of residential instructions and as, independently monitored by Lonres, was Mayfair’s top estate agent in 2013 for Mayfair sales.
Last year Wetherell sold 25% of Mayfair sales with the top three estate agents accounting for over 60% of all sales in Mayfair. Last year marks the third year in a row that Wetherell has been Mayfair’s top estate agent, as judged by volume of sales.
