DENVER, CO – This holiday season, in an effort to stave off hunger for the No Kid Hungry Colorado campaign, Fuller Sotheby’s International Realty (FSIR) broker, Holly Carpenter, has organized the 1st annual Lights of Love Luminaria Event, Sunday, December 21, 2014.
This bright and festive evening will take place exclusively in the neighborhoods of Bonnie Brae and Cory Merrill. Residents who choose to participate will line their front street with luminaries, offering a visual feast of light for spectators while simultaneously raising awareness of No Kid Hungry Colorado, a nonprofit organization that supports hunger challenged children in Denver.
Proceeds from the event will go directly to No Kid Hungry Colorado, an investment where, in many places, just $1 can help a child access ten meals. This event offers residents of Bonnie Brae and Cory Merrill an opportunity to come together and celebrate the holiday season. Participants are encouraged to walk the neighborhood, enjoy the lights, meet new neighbors, and even sing a few carols.
“As a real estate agent, I have an incredible opportunity to get involved and make a difference in my community,” said Carpenter. “Over the years, I’ve prepared and served meals at various shelters and transitional housing programs. Those experiences compelled me to get involved in efforts to end childhood hunger. The No Kid Hungry Colorado campaign helps the Share Our Strength organization recruit summer meal sites, start and improve school breakfast programs, and teach families how to shop for, and prepare, healthy meals on a budget.”
Bonnie Brae’s neighborhood boundaries include Exposition, Mississippi, University and Colorado Blvd. The area was developed in the 20’s and beautiful homes, mostly built in the 30’s and 40’s, line winding streets that surround Bonnie Brae Park, the heart of the neighborhood. Cory-Merrill lies just south of Bonnie Brae, bounded by Mississippi, I-25, University, and Colorado Blvd. The area features stately, remodeled homes, as well as nicely maintained 1950’s ranches. The close proximity to Downtown, Washington Park, and the shopping and business districts of Cherry Creek, Bonnie Brae and Old South Gaylord, make Cory Merrill and Bonnie Brae highly desired neighborhoods in Denver. With ten offices in and around Denver metro, FSIR specializes in these areas.
Carpenter, a realtor with FSIR, is proud to call the highly community active brokerage home. “I am fortunate to work for FSIR,” said Carpenter. “I love helping people move onto the next season of their life. Whether it’s downsizing because the kids are off to college, relocating for a new job or finding a larger home for a growing family, I enjoy providing exceptional service every step of the way to ensure that each of my clients has a smooth and successful transition.”
The luminaria kits are free for Bonnie Brae and Cory Merrill residents with a suggested donation to No Kid Hungry Colorado. Kits can be picked up, and donations made, at Katherine’s Bakery in Bonnie Brae between 9am and 1pm on Saturday, December 6th and 13th.
