DENVER, CO - On November 5, 2016, LIV Sotheby’s International Realty supported the fight against cancer through the Silver sponsorship of the American Cancer Society (ACS) ‘Moulin Rouge’ 2016 Champions of Hope Gala. Additionally, LIV SIR broker, Andrew Wasson, served on the executive planning committee, championing support of the event. Over 270 guests, sponsors and volunteers attended the event, helping ACS exceed its goals and raise over $300,000 for the fight against cancer, and the funding of ground breaking cancer research.
“The Champions of Hope Gala is the premier annual event for the American Cancer Society’s Colorado Chapter, helping raise money for cancer research with a significant portion funding local research projects,” said LIV Sotheby’s International Realty broker Andrew Wasson. “I am proud to be a part of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty and truly appreciate that the brokerage takes such an active role in local charities that have such a positive impact in our community.”
At the event, Colorado Rockies owner, Dick Monfort, served as the gala’s honoree. Auctioneer, Doug Tisdale, helped raise over $32,000 for the Live Auction and another $57,000 with the Paddle Raise at the event. In total, the gala raised over $300,000 for cancer research.
Entertainment was provided by That 80’s Band, DJ Rockstar Aaron and a ‘Moulin Rouge’ themed fashion and hair show was presented by the Ergun Tercan European Salon.
Monarch Casino served at Presenting Sponsor, Integrated Properties was Platinum Sponsor, LIV Sotheby’s International Realty served as Silver Sponsor, and Bronze Sponsors were Bassett Home Furnishings and the Colorado Rockies. Distinguished Partners were: Bank of Colorado, Cigna, CoBiz Financial, Comfort Dental, Ergun Tercan European Salon, Flood & Peterson, HealthONE, King Soopers, Monfort Family Foundation and SCL Health.
“The 2016 Champions of Hope Gala was a success because many top companies in Denver, including LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, chose to make cancer research a priority by funding and supporting the Gala, enabling the American Cancer Society to help more people see more birthdays,” said Michael J. Meyers, Development Manager of the American Cancer Society.
Since 1946, the American Cancer Society has invested $4.3 billion in cancer research, funding more than 47 Nobel Prize winning researchers and performing a key role in confirming that cigarette smoke is linked to lung cancer. In addition to these findings, the American Cancer Society has had a hand in almost all major cancer advancements to date.
Today, US cancer death rates are down 22% (more than 1.5 million lives saved), 49% of the nation is covered by a comprehensive smoke-free law, and 4.6 million women in need have been helped since 1991 through national early detection programs supported by the American Cancer Society.
