PALMETTO, Fla. – (May 1, 2008) – In what amounts to the second largest sale in the City of Palmetto thus far in 2008, Michael Saunders & Company is pleased to announce that River House, a historic home fronting the Manatee River, has sold for $1.475 million. The transaction was completed yesterday, April 30, 2008.Listed for sale by Joe Foster, an associate in the Lakewood Ranch office of Michael Saunders & Company, River House was sold by Peggy Horlander an associate in the company’s Manatee Avenue office. Purchased by a buyer from Belgium, who first previewed the home on Christiesgreatestates.com, the Web site for Christie’s Great Estates—MS&C’s luxury affiliate—the sale was Horlander’s third closing in a single week. Each sale involved an international buyer.River House, a former bed-and-breakfast, is rich in history yet embellished by modern furnishings. Its Old Florida warmth and charm is still very much in evidence, having been carefully preserved even as the home was fully updated by the previous owners. The largest year-to-date sale in the City of Palmetto, a 9,403 square-foot home in Riviera Dunes—also on the Manatee River—was sold for $1.750 million on January 7, 2008 by Robin DiSabatino, an associate in the Main Street office of Michael Saunders & Company.
